Here are some points you may want to include in your message:
Message points: With the state facing a serious financial situation, this will be one of the toughest legislative sessions in decades, but it is critical that funding for education is not cut. I appreciate the challenges that elected officials face and know there will be difficult choices to make, but making cuts to higher education should not be one of them. As a concerned Nevadan, I want my legislators to know that education matters and I want you to support education in this state Other states spend significantly more per capita than Nevada on higher education: Wyoming--$704.54, New Mexico--$521.48, Mississippi--$317.70. Nevada--$242.12 Education provides considerable added benefits to individuals, society and the economy in general Generally, the more education a person attains will result in higher their income and benefits Regions with a well educated population experience lower crime rates, lower poverty rates and lower unemployment Investing public resources in education has a high rate of return for communities and the state, enriching the quality of life for all Nevadans Graduating more students from high school would save the state hundreds of millions of dollars in health care costs alone Please make education a priority in the upcoming budget, and avoid cuts to education benefits. Education Matters.
